UV LEDs

Just as visible LEDs revolutionized the lighting and display industries, UV LEDs will revolutionize industries which require specific targeted light sources in the deep UV spectral range (termed "UVC"). Applications which utilize deep UV light include:

  • Water Purification
  • Air and Surface Disinfection
  • Water Quality Testing
  • Bio-agent Detection
  • Analytical Instrumentation
  • Polymer and Ink Curing

Some benefits to LED technology include:

  • small, but can be mounted in arrays to cover large areas for maximum design freedom
  • mechanically robust and can be run from a low voltage power source, making them ideal for portable systems
  • light from the LED is directional, so more photons can be directed onto the area for disinfection
  • emit a single wavelength of light, so there is no wasted energy or harmful ozone generation
  • switchable, that is they can be turned on and off instantaneously
  • energy efficient
  • no mercury, making them environmentally friendly solutions
